Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 5 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 5 oz white chocolate chips
  • 4 oz Oreo cookies chopped (about 10 cookies)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt on medium-low speed until smooth and well-combined, about 4 minutes.
3/4 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • Add in the eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Beat on low speed for an additional 2 minutes.
2 eggs, 1 egg yolk, 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Gradually sift in the flour and baking soda. Mix until just combined, ensuring not to overmix.
2 1/3 cup flour, 1 tsp baking soda
  • Fold in the chocolate chips (semi-sweet and white) and Oreo pieces until evenly distributed in the dough.
5 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips, 5 oz white chocolate chips, 4 oz Oreo cookies
  • Using a scoop, portion out the cookie dough into 1.5 oz portions and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart (8 cookies per sheet).
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Once out of the oven, while cookies are still hot, you can press additional Oreo pieces and chocolate chips into the top of each cookie for a decorative touch. (optional)
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

How to Store:

Properly storing your Oreo chocolate chip cookies ensures they retain their delightful texture and flavor. Once the cookies have cooled completely on a cooling rack, transfer them to an airtight container. This container should be kept in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Stored like this, your cookies will remain fresh and delicious for up to 5 days. If you prefer your cookies with a slightly chewier texture, you can store them with a piece of bread in the container, which helps maintain moisture.

How to Freeze:

  • Freezing Unbaked Cookie Dough Balls: If you have prepared more cookie dough than needed, or you wish to bake a fresh batch later, freezing the unbaked dough is a great option. Scoop out balls of dough using an ice cream scoop or a large cookie scoop for consistency. Place these balls on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, ensuring they're not touching. Freeze them until solid, then transfer the frozen dough balls to a freezer bag or airtight container. Label it with the date, and you can store these for up to 3 months. When you're ready to bake, there's no need to thaw; just place the frozen dough balls on a cookie sheet and bake, adding an extra minute or two to the original baking time.
  • Freezing Baked Cookies: To freeze the already baked Oreo chocolate chip cookies, wait until they are completely cooled. Then, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer the cookies to a freezer bag or an airtight container, separating layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. These can be stored for up to 3 months. When you're ready to enjoy them, let the cookies thaw at room temperature for about an hour or warm them up in the oven for a few minutes for that freshly-baked feel.
